Domestic Diva

I made quite a few sales on Etsy last week, so I bought myself this necklace. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vt_related_1&listing_id=17028835

Opening night, and a giveaway

Last night was Opening Night, and I have four quick photos for you.

People arrived, and wine was drunk.

Exhibits were admired.

Beautiful dresses and soft-toned paintings whispered to each other.

Skulls and spikes and sculptures abounded.

More and better photos will be online at the Gothic Punk website in a couple of days. In the meantime, would you like to enter a giveaway competition? Go on then! Just leave a comment on this post, and I'll put all names in the draw to win an 8 x 10 print of any one of the she loves paintings (pictured below). Make sure to leave your email address if you don't have a Blogger account. In honour of the show, this giveaway will be open until December 13. I'll announce the winner on Sunday December 14. Anyone from anywhere is welcome to enter!

A funny photo

If you click on that awful photo of me here you might learn a bit more about me! Don't forget to read about the other Craft Queen Design Team girls too! I don't have any scrapping to show as we had a very sad weekend, our close friends suffered a huge loss on Saturday, we are still in shock. Bye for now. Leah

Transition

Jack started his transition into primary school yesterday. He is wearing Harry's old uniform I haven't bought him his own yet. I imagine he will grow even more before Feburary. He had a great day, but it makes me feel sad! Hope that you are enjoying your week! Leah

Gothic Punk 2008

Next week is the opening of the Gothic Punk Art Exhibition. The show runs from the 24th Nov - 13th Dec at Our City O-Tautahi gallery, Christchurch. It's the fourth year I've participated in the show and each year it's bigger and better. The opening night is Monday 24th November from 5pm - 7pm, so please come along if you're in the area! For more information on the show and to view the artists' profile pages, go to the official site here.

I'm working hard this week to finish off some pieces. I'll be showing the she loves series and will have prints and gift cards available. Here are my two latest works:

she loves stars

mixed media

190 x 115 mm

she loves cupcakes
(doesn't everyone right now?)

mixed media

190 x 115 mm

(click on the pictures to view them larger)

And as they say, there's no rest for the wicked. I've been gathering supplies for my next project which is a christmas ornament swap. As soon as my artwork is installed in the gallery I'll be starting on those babies! (I'm keeping the actual design secret, but here is a preview).

My little model

I made some of these headbands last week and sold most of them over the weekend, after spending so long trying to get good photos of them! There is one green patch in our drought stricken yard and I won't let Danny cut it because it's great for photos!
I keep forgetting to mention that I have a layout in Scrapbook Creations this month, I must post a pic here for you and submit some more pages! I haven't submitted for such a long time! Jack has his first orientation at school in the morning, I just can't imagine him in his uniform going of to school! Bye, Leah

A lovely link!

Hello, I do have a favourite for Friday to post, but I will add it tomorrow, I'm very time challenged again! You can check out this cute little post creativelifediary I was invited to another "girls night in" last night and it was lovely!! It was a home shopping/craft night, lots of crafting friends with tables of goodies for sale, lots of yummy food, wine, company and sales, also a beauty therapist, such a great idea! I can't wait for the next one! Enjoy your weekend! Leah

We have a winner!

Catherine! I got a bit lazy and asked Harry to pick a number and he picked No.10, the 10th person to comment after my Christmas tag post was Catherine, the lady that I mentioned on Friday, I purchased a gorgeous doll for Grace from her. here is a pic of some fabric I bought today, I just love it!

and look how quickly our little chickens have grown! I must run and get Harry from school, I hope that you are having a great Thursday! Leah

Enchanted Dolls

Look at these lovelies. They are by Marina Bychkova and you can view them and oh so much more on her website, The Enchanted Doll. Have a look - they are amazing works of art, and Marina even makes tiny shoes, jewellery and bead encrusted dresses for them! If I had a spare $1,985 CND lying around I'd sooo be buying one...

not sure!

Have you ever seen a chenille bedspread like this?? I bought it at an op shop, not looking closely, when I got it home and unwrapped it I was so surprised at the picture in the middle. I'm not sure that I should cut it up to sew with now. Do you think that it could be rare or even valuable?? We will draw our winner for the latest giveaway tonight, the boys were asleep before I had a chance last night. Hope that you are having a lovely day! Leah

I've donated!

$10.00 right here I know that's not much ,but it might help a little! I sold $100.00 worth of pink chenille items during the month of October, not too bad for a busy mum! My sister and I donated $20.00 each at the lovely "pink" night that we attended on the weekend too. Jack says he loved the pink "laminations" that I bought home! Toby will be 3 soon and he is looking for his birthday everywhere, under the cushions on the couch, under the computer desk, funny, I don't quite understand why he thinks he might find it! Sorry I haven't got a pic today but you can see my latest scrap booking here. Thanks for dropping in! Leah

a sneak peek

here is a quick sneak peek of another doll I scrapped today for Nicole Hope that you are having a great weekend, I went to a fabulous "Girls night in" last night as a fundraiser for breast cancer. I will be calculating my 10% of proceeds from my "pink" sales during October, tonight so that I can make my donation to the Jane Mcgrath foundation asap. Thanks for dropping in! Leah

Friday again!

Here is my favourite for this week. Santa has bought Chloe for Grace, isn't she cute?? Visit madebyMaise http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6075098 such a cute shop, I couldn't decide! Grace dosen't have a single doll, she is zooming cars on the floor at the moment! Have a great weekend! Leah

I'm addicted to Op Shopping!

I made this bib today and was taking it to give to my niece to wear for some advertising, but I looked at Grace in her cute little red and white top ( $1.00 from the op shop last week) and decided that since we were going to the hairdressers and out for lunch that we should advertise ourselves, sorry Miss A! We visited an Op shop today and got a bag full of pillow cases a table cloth and some very cute doilies all for $4.oo. I have so many ideas, and hardly ever went near an op shop in the past, now I can't keep away, I need another storage room! Thanks for stopping by! Leah

Another giveaway

Hi, I've been making some of these, using another stamp from Craft Queen, the link is right there in my sidebar. I will give away this set of 6 if you leave me a comment at the end of this post, I'd love to give away larger items but I have been keeping them so small due to the expensive international postage! Harry will draw a name from his hat again next Tuesday night. Thanks for dropping in! Leah

Thinking about Christmas!

Do you like this card? the stamp is from Craft Queen, one of the goodies I bought at paperific. We had another craft stall on the weekend, which was fun, and busy with our 4 kids! Jack sells some of his eggs and parsley from our garden, he makes at least $20.00 each time, pretty good for a 5 year old! His little chickens are growing really quickly too. Thanks for dropping in! Leah

Somerset Studio

A while ago I participated in a Spirit Card ATC round robin. It was organised by the lovely Susan Tuttle, and the idea was that each participant created a folder to hold the cards. As it made the rounds everyone would add a card to each folder, as well as adding some art or embellishment to the folder itself. This month the project was published as an article in Somerset Studio magazine. Unfortunately the editors didn't show any photos of the finished folders (they did a good enough job showing a selection of cards from each participant!), so here are some pics of my finished folder.

A Spirit Card usually has a word or meaning associated with it, and the idea is that you have a deck of cards with different words, affirmations or phrases on each card. You draw one each day and reflect on the word or quality.

Here are the cards I made for each participant. Some people provided a list of words to choose from and others left it up to the artist.
